I have been exploring London and trying to get to know hidden gems in the city! And guess what? I discovered a few! Here are some less-known places in the city!

Little Venice

Little Venice with its beautiful canals and waterways, can be found in Kensington. It’s where the Regent’s canals meet the Grand Union. This was one of the first places I visited in London in 2021!

Westminster Cathedral

Most people have heard about Westminster Abbey, but few know about Westminster Cathedral.

I discovered this place on my second trip to London. I arrived at Gatwick airport and I had in mind to go see Big Ben again since in 2021 it was under some construction. My plan was to leave at Westminster station and find a place to eat but I was so hungry that I took the Gatwick express to the centre and I left at Victoria. Here I decided to eat an English breakfast with a twist and while I was waiting for the food I was checking on the map what were the main attractions in Victoria. That’s how I found out about Westminster Cathedral.

Around Victoria, I also saw little big ben and this is an area where you can go see a musical (even after visiting London 2 times I still didn’t go see a musical).

Address: Victoria St, London SW1P 1LT, United Kingdom

Neal’s yard

Neal’s Yard is located next to Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square and it’s one of London’s prettiest streets! Here you will find independent restaurants, bars, cafés and shops.

Address: Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, WC2H 9DP

Kyoto Garden at Holland Park

When it comes to parks and gardens London has plenty of options to offer to locals and visitors! I decided to visit this garden since it offers a unique Japanese-style landscape, which is perfect for relaxation and admiration.

Leadenhall Market

This is one of the oldest markets in London and has all kinds of vintage boutiques, restaurants, cafes and wine bars. Part of Happy Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was filmed here, representing the wizard and witch pub the Leaky Cauldron.

Address: Gracechurch St, London EC3V 1LT

Dickens Inn

Located next to Saint Katherine’s Docks, the Dickens Inn has nothing to do with Charles Dickens. Although the writer did frequent the area, by the time he was very famous, the building would have been a warehouse and not the pub it is today.

Address: Marble Quay, St Katharine’s Way, Tower Hill, London E1W 1UH

St katherine docks

If you go visit the Tower Bridge don’t miss the chance to stroll around Saint Katerine’s docks. As you can see in the picture It was a very nice sunny day!

Old Spitalfields Market

The Old Spitalfields Market is a covered market that has been on the same site for hundreds of years. Here you can find vintage clothing and accessories, art prints, handmade jewellery and a varied selection of different foods. I personally enjoyed a lot visiting this market. I thought it was very cosy.

Address: 65 Brushfield St, London E1 6AA

Borough Market

This is the oldest food markets in London (1756). It has a big variety of fresh products!

World Citizen Stories tip: If you happen to be in Southwark (main attractions are Tate Modern, The Shard, Millenium bridge, Southwark Cathedral, and Shakesperare’s Globe, among others) this is a good place to eat lunch and save some money in food.

Address: 8 Southwark St, London SE1 1TL
