London is one of the most visited cities in Europe and the World and has many reasons for that! The London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, the numerous gardens and museums, there is plenty of things to see and do!

To prepare for this trip I did a lot of online searches but I also bought a pocket guide to read and enjoy my time in the city. I bought the Cartoville London pocket guide.

Note: Since 1 October 2021 that is mandatory to bring a valid passport since the UK left the European Union. So last year I needed to renew my passport because I went to London in November 2021.

World Citizen Stories Tip: Don’t forget that in London the electric plug is type G. Consider buying a universal plug adaptor.

Where to stay in London?

My sister lives in London so I stayed with her but here are some suggestions of places to stay with the highest scores on booking.

7 Days in London: The best things to see and do

Day 1 – Kensington and Notting Hill

Portobello Road Market, Notting Hill and Little Venice

If you’re in London you can’t miss Portobello Road Market near Notting Hill! I recommend going on Saturday (that’s what I did) since it’s de day with more sections open!

Here you can also eat street food from all over the World! I tried food from the Philippines!

Notting Hill

After seeing Notting Hill we went for a walk in Little Venice! This is a place a lot of people don’t know, but it’s a pleasant walk near the river!

Day 2 – Camden

Camden Market, Primrose Hill, Queen Mary’s Garden, Regent’s park, Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station

Camden Town was one of those places I really wanted to go to in London! This place is an alternative market with different shops and a unique vibe! One of the most famous shops that you can visit here is Cyberdog, famous for its futuristic and dancewear clothes. If you’re hungry from walking around you can stop and try street food from all over the World!

After the market, we walked towards Primrose Hill to see London’s skyline!

We ended the day in the city centre to see Harry Potter’s platform 9/3 at King’s Cross Station to take a picture, as we are big Harry Potter fans.

Day 3 – Westminster

Natural history museum, Hyde Park, Buckingham palace and London Eye

I started the day at the Natural history museum – one of the most known and visited museums in the World! To know our world better this is the place to go! If you’re visiting London during the Winter season you can also ice skating at the entrance of the museum.

I decided to go to Hyde Park and see Speaker’s corner and afterwards I headed to Buckingham Palace and Green Park.

Day 4 – Westminster, Southwark and Lambeth

Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Tate, Millenium Bridge

On my fourth day in London I decided to explore the most iconic monuments of London – Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Unfortunately Big Ben is under construction until 2022, as you can see in the pictures.

Houses of Parliament and the Big Ben

I decided to have lunch in South Bank, which is where the Tate Modern museum is located. I ate in the Borough Market and after that, I went to the Tate. After seeing the museum I recommend you to go to the last floor and see the view! It is worth it!

I crossed the Millenium bridge and then I caught a bus to go see the Tower bridge at night.
