filipa.figueira21Today I want to tell you about my experience as a local showing around to people from all over the World in Lisbon! It was my way of travelling while I was not travelling!
Showaround Lisbon
For almost 2 years I walked Lisbon hills taking tourists to places where they usually don’t go while teaching them about Portugal and Lisbon’s history. At the same time, I also would ask questions about their countries and we would talk about different things from Travelling to Life.
I don’t know how I found out about Showaround, I guess I was trying to find a way to meet new people in Lisbon. I immediately created a profile and decided to give it a try. I found the platform really user-friendly and easy to use! The idea of Showaround is to have a local showing you the city! Locals know the best places to eat and how to avoid the most tourist places.
The next step was to define a path to do with the tourists. With so many beautiful places in Lisbon, it was not easy to choose! After I decided on the path I started to test it to see If the distance was too much or If I needed to change something.
This experience really broadened my horizons, by showing me different perspectives of the World. I also had the chance to practise my communication skills and leave my comfort zone. It made me really happy to know that these people would leave Portugal, knowing more about my beautiful country and its history!
