Francesinhas
Francesinha is the most famous dish of Porto and it’s a must-try! It is a typical sandwich with bread, sausage, meat, cheese and french fries.
People from Porto love francesinhas and they frequently argue where is the best place to eat one. Therefore don’t be surprised if you get different opinions of the best place to eat this typical dish.
But have you ever wondered how this dish was created?
Francesinha was created by Daniel David Silva that was inspired by croquet monsieur (French toast) in his times of emigrant in France. In 1950, the restaurant of Regaleira was the first one to serve this dish that was very simple when it was created, with fewer ingredients.
